The mixed views and the criticism from mainly left-wing media, commentators, Samrat Prithviraj [2022] enjoyed a fine Sunday bagging a respectable Rs16 crore nett, as reported by BoxOfficeindia.com.

After a rather average opening of Rs10.75 crore nett, and limited growth [Rs12.50 crore nett] on Saturday, the Akshay Kumar-starrer, Yash Raj Films produced historical film picked up some momentum on Sunday, thereby taking its opening weekend total to around Rs38-39 crore nett. While that is not a bad figure, but given the rumoured estimated budget [Rs250 crore], and the number of screens in India [3750], the producers would have hoped for better numbers.

Meanwhile, the two South releases didn’t give much competition to Samrat Prithviraj in the Hindi markets. The Hindi version of Telugu film Major [2022] has bagged under Rs4 crore nett, while the Tamil film Vikram: Hitlist [2022], starring Kamal Haasan, Fahadh Faasil, Vijay Sethupathi, could only make Rs2 crore nett in its opening weekend. The two films though have supposedly done well in their domestic markets.

There is joy for Kartik Aaryan as he scored his maiden 150 crore film. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 [2022], that released on 20 May, bagged an impressive Rs12.75 crore nett in its third weekend collection. The T-Series produced horror comedy has thus far bagged Rs152.76 crore nett in domestic business. If you count out the dubbed Hindi versions of RRR, K.G.F: Chapter 2, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 has emerged as the most successful Hindi film of the year thus far. Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 could generate fair numbers in its third week.

With popular Hollywood franchise Jurassic World set to release its third instalment Jurassic World Dominion on 10 June, the Hindi films and other regional content have their task cut out. Thus its imperative for Samrat Prithviraj to have a good week.
