Aamir Khan has been copping criticism over meeting controversial Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogen’s wife Emine in Turkey. Back in India, Kangana Ranaut has slammed the actor over an old interview wherein the super star supposedly claimed that despite having a Hindu wife, his kids will only follow Islam.

Excerpt from the 2012 interview posted on one portal tanqeed.com.

Did you face any religious dilemma while you were married to a Hindu lady Reena Dutta and later on to Kiran Rao?

No, none whatsoever. We never practiced each other’s religion neither did we force each other to do so. But, of course, I had made it very clear that my kids will always follow only Islamic religion.

[Please note: Beyond Bollywood doesn’t ratify or vouch for the authenticity of the above quote attributed to Khan]

Ranaut though has pulled out this old link to slam Khan..

“Hindu + Muslim = Muslim
Yeh toh kattarpanthi hai, (This is radical) outcome of a marriage is not just a blend of genes and cultures but even religions. Bachchon ko Allah ki ebadat bhi seekhayein aur Shri Krishn ki Bhakti bhi, yehi secularism hai na? (Teach kids to worship Allah and devotion to Lord Krishna⁦,” Kangana is said to have posted from her the Team Kangana Twitter handle.

In 3015, Khan had courted controversy after he claimed that there was growing intolerance in the country and how his wife was thinking of shifting to another country fearing for the safety of their children.

Ranaut used the quote in Tanqeed to sublty hint at duplicity in Khan’s view of intolerance.

“You were the most tolerant, when did you become integrated for Hinduism? Children of Hindu mothers whose ragas have the blood of Sri Krishan and Sri Rama, Sanatan Dharma, Indian religion, culture here, whose heritage will follow only and only Islam, why?,” added Ranaut.
