An era has come to an end, as former India captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni called time on his international career.
Dhoni made the announcement in his typical unassuming style, very few words but also filled with humour.
“Thanks a lot for ur love and support throughout.from 1929 hrs consider me as Retired,” Dhoni posted on his Instagram account.
As soon as news of Dhoni retiring from international cricket broke, the tributes and farewells poured in. We’ve compiled some celebrity tributes to the great man.
In 2016, the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput had played the role of Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the biopic MS Dhoni: The Untold Story [2016]. Dhoni played 90 Test matches, 350 ODIS, and 68 T20is. The wicket keeper batsman scores over 16,000 international runs. He led India to no.1 in Test ranking, and also the won the 2007 T20I and 2011 ODI World Cups, respectively.
While he has retired from international cricket, Dhoni will lead the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premiere League that will be held in the United Arab Emirates in September.
