A day after Rhea Chakraborty requested Union Home Minister Amit Shah for a CBI [Central Bureau of Investigation] probe into boyfriend Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, Anil Deshmukh, the Maharashtra Home Minister sees no need for a CBI probe as he sensed no foul play into the actor’s death. Rajput was found hanging in his Bandra, (Mumbai) apartment on 14 June, 2020. Deshmukh expressed confidence into the probe being conducted by the Mumbai police.
“I have the tweets and the campaign. But I don’t think that a CBI probe is required. The Mumbai Police is competent enough to handle such cases and they are investigating every aspect of the case including professional rivalry. As of now, we do not see any foul play. Details of the investigation will be shared once it is completed,” Deshmukh told Mid-Day.
Rajput’s death has created a nationwide outrage with fans, and even rival politicians calling for a CBI probe.
On 15 July, Union Home Minister, Amit Shah had sent a letter to Pappu Yadav of Jan Adhikar Party, acknowledging his request for a CBI inquiry in Rajput’s suicide case.
Yadav took to his official Twitter page to share a copy of the letter he received from the office of Amit Shah. The letter stated that Yadav’s request was received on 16 June, 2020, where a CBI probe into Sushant Singh Rajput’s suicide case was demanded. Since CBI doesn’t come under MHA and falls under DoPT (Department of Personnel and Training), Amit Shah said in the letter that he is forwarding it to the concerned ministry.
Yadav tweeted, “Amit Shah ji, aap chahein toh ek minute mein Sushant mamle ki CBI jaanch ho sakti hai. Isse taale nahin. Bihar ke gaurav film abhineta Sushant Singh Rajput ki sandigdha mrityu ki CBI jaanch ke liye kendriya griha mantri ko patra likh agraha kiya tha. Unhone kaarwahi ke liye patra agrasarit kar diya hai”
(Amit Shah ji, if you want, all it will take is a minute for you to initiate a CBI inquiry into Sushant’s case. Do not avoid it! A letter was sent to the Union Home Minister requesting for a CBI inquiry into the suspicious death of film actor Sushant Singh Rajput, the pride of Bihar. He has forwarded the letter to the concerned ministry for action).
Earlier Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy of the BJP had written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging for a CBI probe into the matter. In his letter to the Prime Minister, Swamy claimed that his sources have told him that Bollywood bigwigs, with the help of dons in Dubai, are trying to influence the Mumbai Police to cover up this matter as a voluntary suicide.
Some reports also stated that the Mumbai Police is is now investigating Rhea Chakraborty’s alleged monetary spending of Rajput’s finances. Earlier, it was reported by Peeping Moon that Rhea’s brother Showvik was also questioned by the Bandra police. As per that report, Rajput was the sole investor in Showvik’s Vividrage Rhealityx, the artificial intelligence, mixed reality and experiential technology company that only came to being in 2019.
