Coronavirus spreading like wildfire as India sees a record 32,000 plus cases in 24 hours

A few days ago, veteran actress Rekha’s house was declared a ‘containment area’ by the BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) when two of her staff members had tested positive for COVID-19.  Days after this, her neighbour and actor Farhan Akhtar’s security guard has also tested positive for the virus. 

The Bhaag Milkha Bhaag [2013] actor who resides with his mother Honey Irani in his Bandra residence near Bandstand area in Mumbai is yet to undergo the precautionary test along with his mother. The BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) has put up a similar banner in front of the actor’s bungalow.

Meanwhile the BMC still awaits Rekha and her manager Farzan’s test results while four of her other staffers have tested positive for the virus. It was previously reported that Rekha and her manager are under home quarantine and would get the tests done and submit it to the BMC.

Rekha, who refuses to have come in contact with anyone in the past few weeks, (reportedly) doesn’t want to take the test right away and feels that since she isn’t experiencing any health issues currently, she can take the test anytime.

The BMC also stated that the sanitisation crew who were sent to the actor’s residence were sent back from outside the door and were asked by the manager to make an appointment before coming next time.

Earlier, Farhan’s filmmaker sister Zoya, who also stays in close proximity to Rekha and her brother, too has her property sealed. 

India has witnessed a huge spike in Covid-19 cases with the last 24 hours seeing a record 32,695 plus cases. India’s Covid-19 count neared the 1 one million mark with 9,70,596 cases, as mentioned by the portal worldmeters.info. As per the Indian government’s Aarogya Setu application, the state of Maharashtra has seen 2,75,640 cases, with 1,52,613 people having recovered while 10,928 people have died due to the virus. The state saw a spike of near 8000 cases in the last 24 hours.
