The Akshay Kumar-starrer comedy scores heavily on first day of the new year, the Dharma Productions’ film has thus far made Rs115.75 crore nett in six days

It’s good news at the box office for Dharma Productions’ Good Newwz [2019]. The Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor-starrer social comedy enjoyed a great start to the new year with the Raj Mehta directorial bagging a stunning Rs22.50 crore nett on 1 January, 2020, as reported by BoxOfficeIndia.com.

The Dharma Productions’ film has so far made Rs115.75 crore nett in six days. The film’s cost of production minus Akshay Kumar’s fees is said to Rs36 crore. Reportedly, the estimated budget including Kumar’s fees is said be a little above Rs100 crore. Good Newwz had released in 3100 screens in India.

Dabanng 3 [2019], Salman Khan’s pre-Christmas release, picked up just Rs3.5 crore nett on its second Wednesday. Dabangg 3 has so far bagged Rs132.50 crore nett in India business.

Hollywood film The Grudge [2020] is set to be released in India on 3 January. However, it will be Good Newwz [2019] that is likely to dominate the domestic box office.
