The Akshay Kumar -starrer comedy bags Rs65 crore nett in opening weekend, Khan’s poor action drama Dabangg 3 picks just Rs10.75 crore nett in second weekend

It looks like 2019 will end on a good note for Akshay Kumar and Dharma Productions. Good Newwz [2019] has bagged an impressive Rs65 crore nett in its opening weekend, as reported by BoxOficeIndia.com.

The Dharma Productions film, that also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani, opened to Rs17.50 crore nett, and then improved to Rs21.5 crore nett and Rs26 crore nett on the weekend.

During a group interaction earlier, Kumar had claimed that the film was made at a budget of Rs 36 crore.  Kumar though takes a substantial amount in profits.  The word coming in is that perhaps the film’s budget including Kumar’s fees and Prints and advertisements, pushed the budget to Rs105 crore.  

Good Newwz was released in 3100 screens in India with 700 screens in overseas market.

While it was good news at the box office for Good Newwz [2019] but there was nothing to cheer for Salman Khan’s Dabangg 3 [2019]. The preceding week’s release could only make Rs10.75 crore in its second weekend. The Salman Khan-starrer action drama has so far made Rs124.50 crore nett, that just about covers its budget.

With Good Newwz doing well, it looks like Dabangg 3 will fail to make Rs150 crore nett in domestic business.
