Having delivered six successive hits, Jio Studios going for a wider release only reflects the faith in brand Khurrana

Jio Studios and Maddock Films’ Bala (2019) has the screens today. The social comedy has been released in 3000 screens in India and 550 plus screens in overseas market. Ayushmann Khurrana, who has been in red hot form with six successive hits, enjoy the biggest release of his career with Bala.
After an impressive debut with Vicky Donor (2012), Khurrana experienced few stumbling blocks before redeeming himself with Dum Laga Ke Haisha (2015). Since 2017 though Khurrana has hit a purple patch delivering six successive hits. Each success only elevating his brand. That perhaps explains why Jio Studios opted for a wider release for Bala.
Before Bala, Khurrana’s biggest release was Dream Girl (2019) that released in 2650 screens in India. Here is a screen count of Khurrana’s preceding releases.
Bareilly Ki Barfi (2017) – 1000 screens
Shubh Mangal Saavdhan (2017) – 1300 screens
Andhadhun (2018) – 1200 screens
Badhaai Ho (2018) – 2000 screens
Article 15 (2019) – 1200 screens.
Badhaai Ho and Dream Girl made Rs134.46 crore nett and Rs139.31 crore nett, respectively [Source: BoxOfficeIndia.com].
Bala has largely received positive reviews, which only augurs well for its box office business. Directed by Amar Kaushik, Bala also stars Bhumi Pednekar, Yami Gautam in leading roles.
