Away from the spotlight, the razzmatazz of Bollywood, there is one veteran actor who’s survived the test of time. He has to his credit what no other stars in Bollywood can lay claim to. This man has featured in nearly a dozen films that were India’s representation to Oscars. Undeterred by the low profile, Raghubir Yadav, aka Raghuvir Yadav, has tirelessly established himself as one of the finest, raw talents in the country. The 62-year-old would soon be seen in first time director Banty Dubey’s Jacqueline I Am Coming [2019].
No this little known film is not based on Sri Lankan import Jacqueline Fernandez, but it tells the story of a 40—year-old bachelor Kashi Tiwary [Yadav], a Hindu who finds love in a church. Tiwary falls for Jacqueline [Diiva Dhanoya]. The lady though is left traumatised by her past, and is recuperating in a mental asylum. That’s doesn’t deter Yadav from wooing the woman.
The makers released the first poster. The very mention of the word Jacqueline should be enough for you to ponder who is this Jacqueline? A unconventional story, and Yadav would be thrilled to bits to be playing the romantic hero at this stage of his career. The make-up artiste has worked hard to give the 62-year-old a younger look. Diiva Dhanoya is an unknown quantity and may that can work to her advantage.
The sad nature of theatrical business means that such films is unlikely to pull in a huge audience. However, if you’ve followed Yadav’s career then here is a film that might pique your interest.
The long-delayed film is set to be released on 18 October.
